Toyota has revealed the first details of the redesigned 2012 Vitz / Yaris. It has a revised design and comes with a variety of petrol engines that are fuel-efficient.
The Vitz is designed to convey agility and sophistication. It features aerodynamic styling that mirrors the rest of Toyota’s lineup. The car is 3,885mm in length and has a wheelbase of 50mm.
Toyota has not released interior photos, but they claim that significant improvements have been made to the cabin. The notable changes include better seats, higher quality materials and premium options like HDD navigation.
Three petrol engines will be available under the hood: a 51 kW/69 PS 1.0-liter, an 83 hp / 94 PS 1.3-liter and a107 hp / 80 kW/ 108 PS 1.5-liter. The 1.3-liter has Dual VVT-i (Dual Valve Timing Intelligent) and stop/start technology. This allows it to achieve a class-leading fuel efficiency rating of 3.8 L/100 km (62 mpg US). The majority of models in Japan will have a continuously variable transmission (CVT), but there is also a 5-speed manual.
