VIN 001 has been transferred to new owners
The GMC Hummer EVO has already set benchmarks in the electric supertruck market. It can produce an estimated 11,500 feet-pounds (14,592 Newton-meters), of electric power, and a total of 1,000 horsepower (746 Kilowatts). This is dangerously close to semi truck territory. The first example sold at the Barret Jackson Auction House in New York for $2.5million (EUR2.1 million, current exchange rates).
The electric truck market is poised to become a major battleground. We can’t forget to mention that the latest Hummer was built without taking into consideration its competitors. Todd Hubbard, Hummer’s EV Performance Engineer, aims to set the benchmark for the battery-powered truck. This is evident with many of its clever features.
The engineering team was able to have fun without the need for an internal combustion engine by using facilities like crabwalk or aggressive four-wheel steering. These are all great ideas, but don’t be alarmed, the truck still has bread-and-butter off-roading features like 18 underbody cameras and 35-inch tires.
The first vehicle sold at auction with a high price tag. However, the Edition 1 models sold within one hour for an even lower starting price of $112595. The 3X model will be in production by the end of 2022. It has a starting MSRP at $99,995.
These early models will cost you a lot, so prospective buyers will be happy to know that GMC will continue its electric vehicle offensive. American automaker GMC will unveil an SUV version of its supertruck at 5:00 PM EST on April 3, 2021.
