It’s also road legal.
One unassuming British supercar might be the most sought-after of all the Aston Martins and Ferraris that will be displayed next month at Pebble Beach. It’s street legal and the first McLaren F1 to be imported to the U.S. as part of Bonhams Qual Lodge Auction.
The chassis number SA9AB5AC5S1048044 is the original BMW-sourced V12 that produces 627 horsepower (467 Kilowatts) & 479 pound-feet (649 Newton meters). With a curb weight of only 2,500 pounds (1.138 kg), the car was able to sprint from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and reach a new record speed of 242.9 mph (391 kmh).
It has a silver exterior and a Connolly leather interior in black and grey. The car has been driven only 9,600 miles (15.449 kilometers) and has had a fuel cell twice replaced.
The F1 is the 37th vehicle to be assembled and the only 64 street-legal examples. Its first owner is offering it. It has a long service history that supports its performance credentials. This includes the most recent fuel cell replacements, which were performed earlier in the month.
A tool kit, complete luggage set, Doug Nye’s opus Driving Ambition, the F1 Auto GLYM detailing kits, a tool roll, a cover for the car, and a watch are all included in the sale. Bonhams has not provided an estimate but the McLaren F1 could sell for up to $10 million after it crosses the auction block next month.
