Although it is still in development, there is a market for it in the US.
ICC Offroad might have a solution for you if you are looking for a compact camping trailer that is ready for offroading. The FlexCamp is a winter-ready camping trailer from the German outfitter.
The operative word here is “Concept”. Although the FlexCamp was introduced as a concept in 2019, unspecified development problems have made progress slow to a crawl. However, it is expected that a production version will soon join the hot camping segment.
The FlexCamp is not yet available for purchase, but it looks like a four-season trailer and the specs aren’t to be dismissed.
The FlexCamp was originally intended to be a lightweight trailer that can be used with SUVs. The company envisions FlexCamp as a small lightweight trailer for SUVs. However, it can also slide into a truck’s bed. You can mount it directly to a truck’s chassis making it an motorhome.
The FlexCamp’s bidirectional expansion is another great feature. The wall expands when you park the FlexCamp. The roof then lifts up and pushes out, creating a lot of space inside the camper. The FlexCamp’s height is 200-304 cm (79-120 inches) and its overall width is 204-334 cm (80-131 in).
The camper can sleep three people and seat four. There is a dry toilet inside the camper and a fully equipped kitchen outside. There are plenty of storage areas and provisions for fresh- and wastewater tanks. The unit is equipped with a 160 Ah lithium-iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4) and an optional solar system.
The pricing of this product has not been disclosed by ICC. However, we expect to have more information about it next year or when it hits the market. We believe this trailer is a good fit for the US market, given its small size.
