Florida Dog Drives in Circle for an Hour, Puts Car in Reverse

Filed under: Weird Things You’ll Read on a Weekend.

Driving has been a privilege for humans for centuries. Except for self driving cars, we carbon-based, upright-standing lifeforms have been the drivers behind the wheel of automobile products.

This strange news was not published until this CNN. One dog, not a man, was seen driving in reverse in Florida for over an hour and enjoying the donuts of his life. It is not often that we see a car driving in reverse for over an hour. This is even more true when the driver is a black Labrador Retriever.

CNN reports that Anne Sabol, the witness, saw the car driving around her cul de sac in Port St. Lucie. It was a dog that was sitting in the driver’s chair, which she didn’t realize at first.

“At first, I thought I saw someone backing up, but then, they kept going and I was like, “OK, what are they doing?” CNN interviewed her.

Port St. Lucie police said that the owner of this vehicle, who asked to remain anonymous, left it in the street with its ignition on, possibly because his dog was inside. He didn’t know that his dog had learned a few tricks behind the wheel.

We think the car is equipped with an automatic gearbox. Otherwise, the car would have stopped the moment the dog pulled the lever. If the owner didn’t know how to disconnect the parking brakes, the owner could have left them off before he left.

If you plan on leaving your car with your dog inside, please make sure that the parking brakes are engaged before you leave. Please don’t teach your dog how to change gears
