Almost every vehicle is equipped with an active anti-theft device. You can have an audible alarm or GPS tracking. However, these systems are generally used to engage only after has committed a crime. Ford has teamed up with ADT Security Services in an effort to prevent this crime from ever occurring. Canopy is the joint venture and aims to provide real-time monitoring of automobiles, similar to ADT’s services for homes and businesses. A variety of sensors and cameras will monitor the vehicle for suspicious behavior. Pre-recorded warnings and other audible alerts can be broadcast in the event of suspicious behavior. Live monitoring will become a major security feature in the future. However, two-way communication via an app will allow for live warnings. Vehicle owners can monitor live camera feeds and receive notifications when there is suspicious activity. This includes everything from impacts to specific sounds and movement nearby, as well as people loitering for a specified amount of time. ADT agents monitor activity and can alert owners and the police if needed.
Canopy initially will target Ford commercial customers, with a focus on high-volume trucks and vans like the F150 or Transit. It’s not an option that is factory-installed because it’s a security system created by a new company with its own cameras and sensors. The Canopy product line will be eventually available at major retailers as well as online. Once everything has been installed, you will need a subscription.

This brings vehicle security to their leadership protecting families and homes. Canopy will be available for cars in the UK and USA in 2023. The service may eventually be available on other automakers’ vehicles.
