The new Ford F150 Raptor XT is now available at a price of US$99,000. Street-illegal means that the 500hp beast cannot be tamed on asphalt.
Ford’s 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor was launched in August. It features a 5.4-litre V8 that produces 235kW (320hp) and a 5.4-litre engine. SEMA 2008 was the first public unveiling of the vehicle. Over 3,000 orders were placed since August. A new FR Raptor XT model is now available. This off-roader cannot be used on the streets and is only for use on roads. The engine is a 6.2-litre, naturally aspirated V8 that produces an estimated 368kW (500hp). The 6-speed automatic transmission runs all four wheels through an electronically selectable 4×4 system.
2011 FR Raptor XT has a coil-over system that includes bypass shocks at the front and rear, a Chromoly 4130 rollcage, factory seating, five-point restraints, and off-road beadlock wheels. Each unit will only be made of 50 and will retail at US$99,000.
Ford also announced the availability the new 6.2-litre Raptor for normal road use. It can produce 302kW (411hp), and 588Nm (434 feet-lb.). It has a lot of torque. Ford claims this makes it the most powerful half ton truck on the market. It has a MSRP of US$41.995 Orders will open December 1, with the first deliveries set for early 2010, and orders will be accepted until then.
