Ford was kind enough to provide us with the first images and details about the new , but one of its most interesting features was kept secret. The central body pillar (Bpillar) is not included in the model. It can be found between the front and back doors, running from floor-to-ceiling.

The latest image, which was just released, shows the feature in its full glory. Ford calls it the “Easy Door Access System”.

The B-pillar was not completely removed. Ford designed the car with the B-pillars integrated into its doors to ensure a stable and strong body.

Stefan Lamm, Ford Europe’s exterior design director, stated that “door systems like these have been a dream of many designers for many years.” “We transformed the idea from a sketch on a designer’s pad to a sleek and versatile product on our showroom floor.

He said, “We set ourselves the challenge to re-imagine the small car.” “People struggle with the spatial challenges that city driving presents and we wanted to provide a solution.”

This results in an unobstructed opening of 1.5 meters wide that is unmatched by any American competitor.

Next month, the 2013 Ford B-Max will debut at the Geneva Motor Show before it goes on sale in Europe.
