Although it’s a concept at the moment, the Transit-based camper could be made into production.
Ford’s Nugget camper was introduced in select European markets at the start of the year. It is a small recreational vehicle that is based on the Transit Custom, with or without the long-wheelbase. The larger brother of the Transit Custom is available in Germany at Dusseldorf’s Caravan Salon. The Blue Oval’s latest camper, appropriately named the Big Nugget is built on the full-roof fullsize transit and has a long wheelbase. This gives the cabin plenty of space.
The six-meter (19.7 feet) Big Nugget was created in collaboration with Westfalia, a renowned camper specialist. It has 13 cubic meters (459 cubes) of interior space and more than 2 meters (6 feet) standing height. The cabin is divided into four sections. At the front, the driver and passenger can rotate.
A separate bathroom is located in the middle of the camper. It has a washbasin and toilet. Ford, Westfalia, and Westfalia also managed to fit in a kitchenette with a 2-burner gas stove, large basin, and 70-liter (2.47 cubic-feet), refrigerator.
The camper is located at the back end of the Big Nugget idea. It features a comfortable bedroom area with a large 79x51in (200×130 cm) double bed that can be used by two adults.
