Ford Boss hints at Maverick Family with Multiple Versions

Ford Boss hints at Maverick Family with Multiple VersionsThe future looks bright for the Maverick name.

It has been just a few days since Ford revealed the new Maverick compact pickup truck. Although the excitement surrounding the launch has subsided, Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed his confidence in the success of the small pickup truck. The future of the Maverick could actually be bigger than we think.

This is the word according The New York Times. They recently spoke with Ford’s global boss. The Maverick has already been branded anti-truck. Ford promotes its hybrid powertrain, estimated fuel economy, and cargo capacity over truck staples such as power and towing. Farley said that he sees a future in which there are many Maverick variants, with a fully electric one.

An all-electric Maverick is a natural choice, especially since a hybrid version of the truck is already in production. Ford’s Mike Levine tweeted a strange tweet a few days after Maverick’s debut, suggesting that an all-electric version may already be in development. Farley refers to other variations as the bigger mystery. This doesn’t mean that there are different trim levels – XL and XLT trims, as well as Lariat, are all part of the lineup. It is possible to distinguish between the full-gasoline and hybrid versions. A high-performance MaverickST could be a return of a Blue-Oval streettruck. However, we believe the new F-150 Lightning will please at least some of those buyers with its extraordinary power, perfect weight balance and independent suspension.

Here’s something a little more interesting. The Maverick was originally a compact pickup. It was actually a two-door compact vehicle which arrived in 1970. The Maverick, which was placed above the Pinto in 1970s, had a seven-year life span before being canned. A two-door Maverick Ranchero could be a possibility with its car-like styling, longer bed and longer floor. Despite all the optimism, we believe there are not any plans at this stage for Maverick variants, except for a full EV. The US loves trucks but not necessarily in smaller sizes. If buyers like the Maverick, then perhaps an expanded product line will be developed. It’s likely that this decision will not be made until after a year or so of sales data.
