Ford Bronco Overland Concept Seeks Off-Grid Camping Adventures

Ford Bronco Overland Concept Seeks Off-Grid Camping AdventuresAre you looking for a campsite? It’s no problem.

Fordhasn’t been shy about promoting Bronco accessories. We haven’t seen much except for occasionally accessorized concepts like the one below, which is designed for camping enthusiasts. It’s called the Bronco Overland concept, and it offers a brief-but-interesting look at some gear for extended off-grid adventures.

The large, roof-mounted tent is an obvious addition. The tent is a Yakima heavy-duty tent that can hold two people and is accessible via a ladder. The interior features an ARB refrigerator, stove, as well as a cooking kit, because camping is more than just sleeping. The package includes a slide-out tray to store the fridge and a tailgate table with folding seats. Comfort is great, but you must get to the campsite before you can relax. Ford chose the Bronco Badlands four-door model as its starting point, and then upgraded the tires to 35-inchers with 17-inch Fifteen52 Traverse HD tires. Ford Performance’s modular steel bumper features a WARN winch and sits in front. Six additional light pods are mounted on the roof. These provide 360-degree lighting and, if things get really dire, you can call the CB radio for assistance, which is cool to have.

It is interesting to note that the base EcoBoost engine of the Bronco, which is connected to a 10-speed auto, can be found under the hood. You might expect a more powerful EcoBoost V6 for a project like this, but the four-pot still produces 270 horsepower (201 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (402 Newton-meters). This should be enough to transport the off-roader with all its gear to remote areas.

It is not clear if these are all Bronco accessories, which include 200+ factory-backed items that should be available when order bank officially opens. Although a complete list of items has not been released yet, it could soon be. This truck could have been built for the now-canceled 2020 SEMA Show. That would make it a perfect time to unveil all Bronco’s accessories. We might be able to see how wild or mild Bronco buyers are with their official accessories by October’s end if that is the case.
