Advanced Fiberglass Concepts is currently working on a sleek roof to fit four-door models.
The Ford Bronco is a very popular vehicle since its recent reboot in Jul 2020. The Bronco has been plagued by frustrating delays and quality problems since its original launch. However, this has not stopped the demand for the off-roader. Ford said new Bronco hardtops were available at the end 2021. However, that hasn’t stopped the aftermarket dipping its toe in the water.
Advanced Fiberglass Composites shared a hardtop currently in development on the forums at Bronco6G.com. Although the California-based company has not released any information, we know that it will be available as a modular or one-piece roof with factory mounts. It will also be compatible with roof rails. It plugs into existing electrical connections and works with Ford’s hardtop prep kit. It is approximately the same weight as the factory roof.
It’s not an exact copy of the standard Bronco hardtop. The company claims that the modular top only has one section above the front seats. This will provide a quieter ride, better fit, and lower chance of leaking. Although the channels on the roof look different, the most noticeable change is at the rear. Instead of being more vertical, the rear is angled forward.
The factory Bronco roof was a source of concern long before the off-roader hit dealerships. All manner of problems, including noise and fit and wear issues, were reported once the vehicle was in the customers’ hands. A Canadian Bronco owner claims that a snowstorm filled his vehicle with snow, despite the soft roof being properly closed. Ford is to be commended for taking public action. They stopped production until better hard tops were made and pledged to replace all sold tops at no cost.
Advanced Fiberglass Composites will be gradually releasing information about its Bronco hardtop throughout January. We do not yet know pricing or availability details, but we do know that the main focus is on four-door Broncos. If there is enough interest from owners of two-door Broncos, this could change.
