Ford Bronco Raptor to Get 3.0-Liter V6 From Lincoln Aviator

This is 415 pound-feet torque. The hybrid version has more, it seems.

The much-anticipated Ford Bronco will be coming soon. Or not. As more reports indicate that there is a push for its launch because of the global coronavirus crisis. We are excited about the return of the legendary off-roader, but there have been numerous reports on the engine options.

The nearly-confirmed engine options is the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, which is ubiquitous in the Ford range. The engine will produce 270 horsepower (201 Kilowatts) in the Ranger and 310 pound feet (420 Newton-meters), paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Another engine option is the 2.7L twin turbo V6 in the F150. It produces a healthy 325 horsepower (242kW) and 400 pound feet (542 Newton-meters). Both of these options have been reported many times, but they are not yet confirmed or acknowledged by the Blue Oval.

The question now is: What about the Bronco Raptor rumored? A well-respected nameplate would be able to elicit many speculations, including the possibility of a 3.5L engine driving the SUV.

Ford Bronco Raptor to Get 3.0-Liter V6 From Lincoln Aviator

RevMatchTV released a video that disproves this rumor. The source, which is located within Ford, says that the 3.5L engine won’t fit into the Bronco’s chassis so it’s going be a bust.

Then, what’s the deal? RevMatchTV sources claim that Ford will integrate the 3.0L turbo V6 engine into the Bronco Raptor. This is the same engine as the Ford Explorer, and Lincoln Aviator. Although output ratings aren’t yet available, it is important to remember that the mill produces 400 horsepower and 415 lb.ft of torque on both crossovers. These numbers are not bad. They are not bad at all.

The Bronco Raptor will be revealed one year after the main models are released. Rumours have also suggested that a hybrid Bronco Raptor was being considered, but this is not something we expect to see.

These should be taken with a healthy dose of salt until you receive a final confirmation from Blue Oval.
