We are paying particular attention to the undercarriage on this test vehicle.
You should not adjust your monitor or phone or any other device from which you are viewing these images. This isn’t some odd Ford Ranger. It isn’t, although it may look like it, but you won’t see this vehicle in dealerships any time soon. This is the Ford test mule that Ford will use for its upcoming Bronco which will share its underpinnings as the Ranger.
It’s obvious that this Ranger test vehicle has the extended-cab body despite the camouflage. The strange bed behind the cab we don’t believe is connected to the production Bronco. We also think the body should be very different. The teaser photo of Ford showed a boxy shape. Rumours suggest that the Bronco will have removable doors and a soft roof. You won’t find these features on a Ranger.
We would rather draw your attention instead to the large tires and the visible undercarriage. The camouflage used to conceal the axles is also evident if you pay close enough. We believe that the dedicated off-roader will have a Dana 33 at the front and a Dana 44 at its back. There will also be coil springs around the vehicle. Rumours suggest that the Ranger will be powered by a 2.3-liter turbo four-cylinder and a 10-speed automatic.
There is also rumours that Ford will launch a Bronco subbrand. A smaller version of the Ford Escape is also being considered. It’s possible that we will see the baby Bronco in the future before the midsize model. There may also be a new F150. According to rumors, the Bronco could be offered in both four-door and two-door versions. A hybrid version may also be possible.
Ford has stated that a Bronco would be coming in 2020. We still have months to digest rumors and spy photographs.
