Ford Bronco Two Door Featured With Production Body For The First Times

It certainly looks like a Wrangler fighter right now.

Here’s a surprise for Friday. Although we have seen many spy shots of the Ford Bronco in the past, this is the first time that we have seen a production-ready two-door model. These photos will dispel any doubts that the new Ford is aiming directly at the Jeep Wrangler.

The photos from the new batch are clear and the Bronco seems right at home in an offroad environment. The wheelbase of the two-door is shorter and the prototype has some very heavy all-terrain tires. The roof camouflage might overstate the height of the Bronco, as with other sightings. We know the grille will look similar to the Ford design we saw with its prototype. Bronco R Baja racer.

The roof camouflage will likely cover a removable top, just like the Jeep Wrangler. The reborn offroader will likely have removable doors. Multiple patents, including one that was discovered recently, suggest that this option is almost certain for the SUV. Wrangler-esque features such as an externally mounted spare and massive ground clearance are also part of this long-awaited Ford offering.

We don’t have long to wait. Ford has confirmed that the covers will be lifted this spring, aside from seeing prototypes built on production technology instead of test mules. This could happen as soon as March, or as late in June. However, rumors are circulating that an event may be planned for April. Perhaps it’s tied to the New York Auto Show. The North American International Auto Show in Detroit is another possibility. It will launch its new timeslot before the beginning of summer in June.
