Broncos everywhere!
Mike Webb, Bronco6G forum captured a video of thousands parked Ford Broncos close to the Michigan Assembly Plant. Motor1.com reached to the automaker in order to learn more. We were told by a spokesperson that these SUVs are still being tested for quality before they are shipped to showrooms.
This explanation would imply that Ford should increase its quality control because the Bronco is highly sought after. These SUVs would be a great selling opportunity for dealers. The vehicles can be left outside to avoid any damage.
The early Broncos had quality control problems. The hardtop with a honeycomb- or snakeskin-like design on its exterior was a problem. The headliner was separated from the roof inside.
Photos also revealed that lateral movement in the soft roof mechanism could cause the roll bar to be damaged when the roof is raised or lowered. This caused paint chips to fall off the roll bar.
A second issue with roofs was excessive wear to fabric soft top. According to some reports, the problem was caused by the fabric rubbing against a piece plastic when it was folded down.
Also, there was a whistling sound from the grille and mirrors when the SUV was traveling at over 30 mph. Ford issued a technical service bulletin stating that the noise was caused by airflow between the grille hood and grille. The company also stated that it was currently working to improve the seal.
These issues are critical for Ford as the Bronco is a huge success. It is also gaining customers from other brands. According to the Blue Oval, 70% of customers for the SUV do not own a Ford vehicle.
