It is one of the largest private Ford collections anywhere in the world.
Thomas’ collection of Ford and Shelby cars is so large that Petersen had to split it into three parts. These videos are worth watching if you have 40 minutes. It’s not all Mustangs. This video also features a variety of fast Fords. Thomas has about 200 cars, so the whole collection isn’t featured.
Thomas claims that it took him 40 years to accumulate all the cars he owns. Thomas also keeps a lot of spare parts and other Ford memorabilia in his warehouse. Some cars also have a story. A 1968 Shelby GT500KR in black is one of these cars. Thomas’ GT500KR is rare, but his autographs make it even more special. These autographs are from Carroll Shelby, Lee Iacocca and Chuck Cantwell. The legends of Shelby, GT350 and Mustang would not exist without these three people. It is one of the most prized cars in the collection because it has these big names on it.
Thomas spoke highly of his Sunbeam Tiger, and not just the Shelbys or the Mustangs. Although the British roadster stands out from the rest of the lineup, there is a Blue Oval connection and a Carroll Shelby connection. Shelby was part of the design team for the Tiger. Shelby fitted a Ford 260 cubic inch (4.3 liter) V8 into a Sunbeam Alpine. The rest is history. Thomas has a large selection of Ford models, from 1932 to 1950. Street rod versions of the 32 Fords are available as well as standard versions. He also owns several 1939 Fords, including a 42 Tractor and SVT models that date back to the early ’90s.
