The dealer called the owner the next day to request that the SUV be returned.
In the fourth quarter 2020, Ford shipped 5,120 Bronco Sport SUVs (including this Badlands), to customers. A Florida dealer sold the car to a customer as a demo vehicle, but he later called him to ask him to return it.
The owner traded in his 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and made a downpayment of almost $2,500. He then accessed financing to purchase a Bronco Sports that he was technically not allowed to. The owner took delivery of the off-roader boxy on December 22. He received a call from the dealer 24 hours later, requesting that the Bronco Sport be returned on Christmas Eve.
Although the dealer was supposed keep it for four months, and then sell it, it ended up in the hands of a customer sooner than expected. The customer refused to return it and sent a letter to customer service expressing his dismay at the dealer’s actions. Adam Sidoti was the rightful owner of the car and he insisted on keeping it. He contacted ABC Action News’ Jackie Callaway for assistance.
Ford was contacted by the reporter on December 29th, and the matter was resolved within hours. Sidoti received a call later in the day to inform him that he was permitted to keep the Bronco Sports Badlands. In an email sent to ABC Action News, Ford made an official statement:
The Bronco Sport is a hot commodity. Some dealers are selling it at $10,000. This is on top of the minor price rise last month.
