Ford EcoSport Facelift Revealed with Sporty ST-Line Option

The European market gets a new 1.5-liter diesel engine.

Ford finally gave the European version EcoSport an overhaul. This brings the model closer to its rivals on the Old continent. It will go on sale in the second half of this year and offer “enhanced versatility, capability, refined styling, and sophisticated technologies.”

The EcoSport’s refreshed design hides a sporty ST-Line model. It features new 17- or-18-inch wheels, darkened radiator grilles, projector headlights, and sporty accents at its rear.

The new EcoSport is more than just a prettier package. The new EcoSport crossover features a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 125 horsepower (93kW) and a combined fuel consumption rate of 52 MPG (4.5 L per 100 km). The company also offers the intelligent AWD system for the Kuga and Mondeo, S-Max and Edge on Europe.

Ford will soon offer a six-speed automatic transmission with low friction that is specifically designed for 1.5 diesel models. This will ensure even lower fuel consumption. A 100-hp (75 kW) entry-level version of Ford’s EcoBoost turbo engine will also be available starting next year.

Ford’s smallest SUV will get a number of safety and assist technology upgrades, including the new generation SYNC3 infotainment systems with Fiesta-inspired tablet-style 8-inch screens, cruise control with adjustable speeds limited, rearview camera, blind spot information, roll stability control, as well as cruise control with variable speed limit, cruise control, and cruise control with adjustable gear limit.
