A van that can reach 62 mph in under two seconds is enough to replace a hypercar. It also features a burnout mode.
The Ford SuperVan’s combustion engine has been retired after three iterations. This latest fable from the Blue Oval is now purely electric. The one-off vehicle packs four motors and can reach speeds of 0-60 mph (100 km/h). It takes less than two seconds to complete the run. Ford Performance developed the vehicle secretly with the help of racing specialists STARD, while the automaker’s Cologne-based team crafted the design.
A liquid-cooled battery of 50 kWh powers the four electric motors. It is smaller than the E-Transit Custom’s 68-kWh capacity. This unique build was built on the E-Transit Custom’s 68-kWh battery. It is mounted midship where the ICEs were in the three previous SuperVans. This allows for optimal weight distribution and lower center of gravity. The battery can be charged quickly with a fast charger in as little as 45 minutes
The SuperVan 4 is based on the E–Transit Custom and has a more aggressive body than its donor vehicle. The aero package includes a large front splitter, powerful side skirts and a huge rear diffuser. The unique design uses fully darkened taillights and a roof-mounted wings at the rear.
The aggressive body hides a modified suspension that features a double-wishbone arrangement at the front and rear axles. The Ford SuperVan’s latest version even features motorsport-grade rear and front subframes, and brakes derived from race cars. It also features bucket seats, a full roll cage and Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment software with a large display.
The portrait-oriented touchscreen gives you access to five driving modes: Road/Track, Drag/Drift, Rally, and Rally. There’s even a tire cleaning mode, which is quite funny. It activates by spinning one axle and fully braking the other. Although Ford claims it was added to warm up tires, we all know exactly what it does.
The Ford SuperVan 4 was unveiled today at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Romain Dumas will be driving the Ford SuperVan 4.
