It doesn’t say yes, but it isn’t saying no.
Ford unveiled the Ranger Raptor last week before unveiling the new Everest. So, we are certain that some people are curious if the two will merge. As the Blue Oval cannot commit to an Everest Raptor, it is likely. Ford is not limiting its options, as there are no immediate plans. However, it may happen one day.
Motor1.com asked Ian Foston, global chief engineer for the T6 platform, if the SUV would get the go-faster treatment. It’s not currently on the Blue Oval’s agenda, but it could be if there is enough customer interest.
The 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 will be used in the Everest Raptor if that happens. The gasoline engine produces 392 horsepower (292 Kilowatts) as well as 430 pound-feet (583 Newton meters) of torque. The Bronco Raptor will be able to produce more than 400 horsepower, which is the same as the Explorer ST’s 3.0-liter unit that produces 415 lb/ft (563 Nm).
The Ranger Raptor will again be available in Europe, although with a huge power deficit because of stricter emission regulations. Only 288 hp (215 kW), and 362 lb-491 Nm will be available for the Old Continent version. They also have the same twin-turbo V6. We don’t expect the Everest to be sold in Europe.
Ford could likely “Raptorize the Everest” since the mechanically related Ranger was already given the performance treatment. It all depends on the amount of interest and whether it’s feasible to make a business case. Although we would definitely buy one over the Explorer or Edge, it all depends on whether there is enough interest to make a viable business case. The Ranger Raptor will be available in the USA and Canada in 2023.
