It is ready for production.

For fans of the Ford Expedition, the 2022 model year promises to be very exciting. The SUV is being refreshed. A performance variant will be available in the form the Expedition ST (see related links below). We have photos that show the Expedition Timberline is in development.

The 2022 Expedition Timberline spy photos were sent to us with new photos. They show a prototype SUV that was being tested with less camouflage than the original. The exterior details of the SUV are now visible, with the exception of the front bumper, and tailgate. Let’s see what’s different from the previous trial vehicle.
The front headlights have been virtually camouflaged and the C-shaped LED daytime running lamps are integrated into the clusters. Although it’s not a completely new design, it is a significant improvement over the 2021 models. The headlights have a different shape while the turn signals are now shaped with three small LED stripes.

The Timberline logo is fully visible in the middle of bumper below the new headlights. The arrangement is very similar to the Explorer Timberline. However, the orange towing anchors are located further down in bumper for the Expedition. These photos suggest that the Expedition Timberline may be riding higher than the Expedition Timberline, which could indicate potential suspension upgrades.

There are no plans to make any changes to the 3.5-liter twin turbo V6 engine under the hood. However, the Timberline could be given a little more power than either the standard 375 horsepower or 400 horsepower. We also hope that the SUV will get a hybrid powertrain from the F-150 for the model year 2022.
