Engineering was a focus on usability.
In recent years, pickup tailgates have been a key area of innovation within the truck segment. The 2019 GMC Sierra was a forward-thinking . The Ram 1500 arrived with the Multifunction design, which could open outward as barn doors. Ford chose a more traditional layout for the new F150.
The F-150’s tailgate doesn’t look old-fashioned. It’s just that there are other things to be focused on. There is a Tailgate Work Surface that can be used for cutting lumber or making measurements. To prevent damage, there are designated spots for C-clamps.
“Many customers used tailgate to help with projects, including DIY and construction. These improvements were more practical than a more radical tailgate,” Piechocki explained to Ford Authority.
Another cool feature of the F-150’s bed can be found near the tailgate. Pro Power Onboard generator provides 2.0 kW of electric capacity for gas-powered trucks. The standard output for the Hybrid model is 2.4 kW, with an option of 7.2 kW. Even the smallest version of the Hybrid can make tailgating simple by powering portable speakers and a heater, as well as a TV. Even the 7.2-kW version has a 240-volt outlet.
The new F-150 is packed with even more cool features. The gearshift can be folded down and replaced with a work surface. Max Recline seats can be reclined to almost 180 degrees when it’s time for rest.
