This is how the new truck might look.
You may not have heard that trucks are in vogue right now. Ford won’t be the last to catch up with the growing competition. Dearborn-based automaker Ford is working on a refresh of the F150 pickup truck. Ford wants it to remain America’s most-sold vehicle. The updated F-150 isn’t much different from the one that’s currently on sale. Spy photos don’t show much of a change. Although changes are unlikely to be significant, new renderings by Kolesa.ru give us a glimpse of what the truck might look like when it arrives later in the year.
Ford has made the most important change at the front with a new grille, headlights and bumpers. The new F-150 should look similar to the old F-150. There should be many grille options depending on the truck’s package and trim. The one we have seen is a copy of the Ford Ranger’s grille.
The new grille surrounds the new headlights with a redesign of the lower fascia and revised headlights. Spy photos show the daytime running lamps extending from the headlights to the fog lights in front of the redesigned bumper. This feature is also shown in the renderings. The rear changes are harder to spot, but our spy photos show little difference. Although the taillights have a new design, modifications to the bumper or tailgate are not visible. They are unlikely to change as there are only so many options for designing a tailgate.
The interior is one area that renderings do not show. It should look like the truck today, although we don’t know much about it. It could have a new screen for infotainment or at the very least, Ford’s most recent infotainment system.
The 2021 Ford F-150 will be very similar to the current model. This is a major step forward for the truck which already had one update in 2018 following its 2015 introduction. This will bring the F-150 hybrid to life before an all-electric is available in a few years.
