Although the MegaRaptor may sound like something you would find in a 1960s Japanese science-fiction movie it is very real. The MegaRaptor is also large and rides on 20-inch wheels with 46 inch tires. This requires significant bodywork to ensure proper clearance. This sinister off-roader is made from a Ford F-250Super Duty. It was designed by Jeremy Dixon, who is also the founder of F250R.com, Tuscon, Arizona-based F250R.com.
A F-250 is the base of the build. F250R.com can make a MegaRaptor from FordSuper Duty pickups, as far back 2005. The hood, fenders, and windshield are taken out and replaced by custom fiberglass panels. These include big fenders and a hefty hood. Dixon attaches the whole thing to a forward-opening, steel frame. This allows the front clip to be seen as a big rig for easy access to both the engine and the front suspension bits. The bed is kept, but it’s modified with its own pair fiberglass fender flares. Finally, it’s bolted back into the frame.
The F-250 receives a suspension overhaul that includes a 4.5-inch lift from ICON Vehicle Dynamics. Bilstein shocks are added to give the truck a slightly more comfortable ride. The front axle is also moved forward to improve clearance. To ensure that the truck can handle off-roading with hugely heavy 20-inch wheels and 46-inch tires, custom 10-lug military-spec hubs have been added.
This results in a truck that has significantly higher ground clearance but maintains a low center of gravity to ensure stability while rock crawling and speeding down trails. F250R.com also offers a wide range of options, including custom bumpers and bed-mount spare tire carriers, lighting, interiors and side steps that allow people to climb inside this truck.

F250R.com can convert your F-250 into an F-250 MegaRaptor for just $28,000 The company also offers a $22,000 SuperRaptor Conversion, which uses stock F-250 hubs and smaller 40-inch tires on 17-inch wheel. A new F-150 Raptor is about $50,000. One could buy a nice used F-250 for $20,000 or build a diesel-powered MegaRaptor at the same cost. The new F-250 would be cheaper at $80,000, but it would still be an apples-to-apples.
