The most expensive model is $94,000
Ford wants people know that the new FSeries Super Duty Limited is a great truck. But not only in that it can be used for all sorts of truck stuff. Ford claims that the F-450 Limited 4×4 can haul the equivalent of an F-35 fighter plane. This is 30,000 pounds for those not in the aerospace industry. Ford insists – almost boasting – that the Limited is priced at $80 835 for an F-250 and $94,455 for a fully loaded F-450. That’s enough money to get you into the driver’s seat in a new Mercedes-Benz F-Class, a vehicle many consider to be the pinnacle for luxury and technology.
We aren’t comparing apples and oranges, but this is a lot of money for a pickup truck that was designed to be a workhorse. Ford believes the Limited series will be the best pickup technology and luxury. However, its impressive list of features makes it an attractive choice. The seats feature two-tone Camelback leather in two colors. Front seats are heated and ventilated, while rear seats are onlyheated. Miko suede is the headliner, or at most, those parts that are not affected by a panoramic sunroof. The interior features dark ash wood trim and a laser-engraved serial number on each Limited.
Technology-wise, Super Duty Limited models come with a variety of standard features, including adaptive steering and cruise control and blind-spot monitors. Drivers will be able to maneuver the truck with the 360-degree camera and trailer reverse assistance. These trucks are built to haul heavy loads so the blind spot monitoring also provides trailer coverage.
The exterior has a satin-finish twin bar grille with chrome accents. It is flanked by quad beam LED headlamps. The tailgate’s back also has a satin finish. Ford’s Limited line only offers the 6.7-liter Power Stroke v8 diesel engine. It is rated at 440 horsepower, 925 pound-feet torque, and should be able to pull any size trailer across the country.
Ford is optimistic that the Super Duty Limited series luxury-minded truck will be a hit, stating that it’s for “successful ranchers, contractors, and RV owners.” The automaker also points out that Lariat trim levels, King Ranch, and Platinum account for more than half of Super Duty’s 2017 sales. Ford wants to remind less successful ranchers, however, that the F-250 XL base-model starts at $32,890.
Ford dealers will receive the new F-Series Super Duty Limited this winter in single- or dual-rear-wheel configurations.
