Ford Fiesta RS is starting to get new details.
According to Autobild the model will be released in 2017 in celebration of the 40th anniversary.
Ford has not confirmed plans to make a Fiesta RS, but they have previously stated that they will be making at least 12 high-performance cars. It is expected that the Fiesta RS will be one of these models. It is slated to join a growing lineup including the Focus RS and F-150 Raptor as well as the Mustang Shelby GT350 / GT350R, and the all-new GT.
The Fiesta RS is still in its infancy. However, it will follow the example of the Focus RS by adopting an aggressive front fascia and revised side skirts as well as a sporty rear end. A sport-tuned suspension is also possible.
Although performance specifications are not yet confirmed, the publication states that the Fiesta ST will be using an upgraded turbocharged 1.6-liter four cylinder engine. The ST produces 197 horsepower (147 kW), but rumors suggest that the RS will produce up to 246 horsepower (183 kW).
Earlier rumors had suggested that the Fiesta RS might have an all-wheel-drive system. However, this is unlikely considering mainstream models don’t offer an all-wheel-drive option. It would also be difficult to justify the cost of developing a system for the Fiesta RS.
