Mountune states that the changes are intended to enhance the driving experience and performance.
Mountune, a Ford tuning specialist, is known for upgrading Blue Oval’s hot-hatchs. However, Mountune decided that its existing option for the Fiesta ST wasn’t powerful enough. The firm added a package to squeeze a few more horses out of the hatchback.
The m235 upgrade is the next step up from the existing m225 option. It produced 225 horsepower using the 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol motor. The PS575 ($745) upgrade increases that to 232 horsepower and the peak torque to 258 lbft (350 Nm).
The upgrade, despite the power increase, is still based on the M225 package which uses the Mountune Induction Kit. This includes a tig-welded aluminum box with a secondary cold-air feed point, high-flow air filter and porous secondary-air-feed hose. This allows the company to increase its car’s power and also adds aural appeal by increasing the induction noise.
Each package includes a phone-controlled tuning device that alters the engine’s behavior. The m235’s power delivery has been altered to “transform” driving experience. The m235 has an improved exhaust sound and a no lift shift setting, which makes it easier to upshift without having to push the accelerator.
There are three settings available for the system, including an anti theft setting that disables the vehicle from being driven away. The system also has a setting to return the car to its original state. The full-bore 232-hp setting is the final and final. It includes modifications to the track and sport modes to increase the aggressiveness of the launch control system.
Mountune states that although the upgrades will make a significant impact on the car’s performance, the packs are intended to keep the vehicle safe and reliable. Mountune also stated that the company aims to give the car an “OEM-plus” look, giving it the appearance that the vehicle was shipped with the upgrade.
Alec Pell Johnson, director at Mountune Performance said that the m235 power upgrade demonstrates how much fun can be had with the Mk8 Fiesta ST. “We have worked hard to improve the already excellent m225 kit. With the addition of no-lift shift optimization, and an improved exhaust overrun, our new kit delivers significant performance and driver pleasure.
Mountune’s m235 kit is priced at PS575, ($745), but customers with the m225 upgrade are able to switch to the M235 for PS99 ($128).
