A design update is in order for the model.
Ford has stopped building cars for the US market and is now focusing on SUVs, trucks, crossovers, and SUVs. The Ford Focus was discontinued in America. It’s still available elsewhere in the world and is due for an update. The first glimpse of the refreshed model was earlier this year. It arrived in a minimal amount of camouflage, with the Focus Active. The Focus Active is seen teasing in summer sunlight in a new set of photos.
Last time we saw the Focus it was in Sweden performing cold-weather testing. New photos show the hatch camouflaging across the hood as well as the rear hatch. Ford will not be making major changes to the model’s design during this mid-cycle refresh. The Focus will see a few styling tweaks. The updated Focus will get new headlights, tweaked bumpers with redesigned intakes, daytime running lights, and a modified grille.
Although the rear will not see any changes, they will incorporate new lighting elements. The taillights are slimmer than ever, and sit above a familiar rear bumper. Ford will likely update the infotainment screen inside, which could be as large as 10 inches. It may also receive the most recent SYNC4 software. Software updates are becoming as important as exterior design refreshes.
Ford doesn’t plan any major powertrain changes, so the existing ones will remain largely unchanged. Ford has not yet indicated when the new Focus will debut. It was last seen in March and it seemed ready for production. It looks good now. Ford could reveal the vehicle at the end of 2021. Others suggest that Ford may unveil the wrap in the early 2022.
