This hot hatchback climbs canyons, not forging them.
A Ford-Focus-based offroader is what you want. An SUV with FocusDNA is on the horizon. But this one is different, and a lot better. This isn’t Focus-based. This is and a Focus. It also comes with a rally-ready RS model. Rain Prisk posted the render on Facebook. It may be the most cool thing you will see all day.
You may assume that this is an all-wheel drive RS with huge tires. This rendering shows many interesting details. The fenders, or at least what is left of them, have massive wheel arches that can accommodate the tires. This gives the car an authentic desert-apocalypse feel while still looking great enough to steal the parking lot from a fancy restaurant.
There are more things going on up front. You can see the row of off-road light grilles, but it is hard to miss the large skidplate in the lower fascia. This is where you would expect to find an opening for the intercooler. This could make it more difficult for the powerful 2.3-liter turbo to breathe. However, this hatchback isn’t about achieving maximum speed.
We have one complaint: the fenders don’t seem to be able to accommodate large tires. It’s likely that we would jump out of such a vehicle, but landing would be very difficult or detrimental to the bodywork. We’d still smile, regardless of what.
What would you say, Ford Do you want to be able to do everything with an SUV? Here’s where you can start.
