Ford Focus ST Wagon Revealed as Tasty Forbidden Fruit

America, look away! This one isn’t for you.

Ford has introduced the Focus ST wagon to irritate the itch of performance car enthusiasts looking for affordable vehicles in North America. The long-roof version follows in the footsteps other forbidden fruits like the Fiesta ST or the Focus ST Hatchback. It combines punchy engines with the added practicality you would expect from a wagon. Ford will sell the Focus ST wagon in Europe this summer with a choice of a 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline or a 2.0-liter Diesel engine. As in the hot hatch The former will produce 276 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, and 310 poundfeet (420 Newton meters) from 3,000 to 3,000 rpm. Power is channeled to front wheels via a standard six speed manual gearbox or optional seven-speed auto. We don’t know much about the wagon’s performance, but the lighter hatchback will need to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standing stop. The EcoBlue unit can produce 187 horsepower at 3,500 rpm, and 295 lbft (400 Nm), from 2,000 to 2,000 rpm. Although we will have to wait until the company releases details about performance, it is safe to say that the diesel engine is significantly slower than the EcoBoost model. It offers greater fuel efficiency, if you are looking for a fast wagon.

The car is a formidable opponent to the SEAT Leon Cupra RST and Skoda Octavia RS Combi.
