Ford Fusion Will Not Die Until At Most After 2020 Model Year

Ford will not stop providing life support for the midsize sedan, even though it is nearing its end.

Ford Europe has shown its support for the Mondeo with a mild update to show that the midsize sedan/wagon still has a future despite American counterpart’s demise. After deciding to not sell the Focus Active in America, Ford will eventually cut its passenger car line-up to the Mustang. However, the pony car won’t be the only Blue Oval model not to be an SUV or truck for a while.

CarsDirect reached out to Sam Schembari, a Ford spokesperson, and was informed via email that the Fusion will not be retired in the near-term. This is good news for car enthusiasts. Production will continue through 2020, so there’s plenty of time to drive a Fusion.

CarsDirect reports that Ford dealerships across the United States currently have approximately 10,000 Fiestas on hand. We are referring to the previous generation supermini and not the one that has been on sale in Europe for some time. Dealers have approximately 8300 Focus models in stock. However, this is the older model, not the fourth-gen model that was launched on the Old Continent in 2018. It’s available in a sedan, hatchback, or wagon.

The same source also mentions that you can save as much as $3,000 on a Fiesta or as much as 4,000 on Focus depending on where you live. Ford dealers also try to attract Taurus customers with fat discounts up to $6,000 but it’s best to hurry as there are only 3,800 units left.
