In June, the custom SUV will be on display at Pride events in Tennessee (and Michigan)
Ford has created a colorful Bronco Wildtrak to celebrate Pride Month. It will debut at the Memphis Pride Fest this weekend. The automaker will bring the SUV to several events this summer, including Detroit’s Motor City Pride Parade on June 11-12 and the Ann Arbor YMCA Block Party on June 25.
The custom Bronco features a rainbow motif. It follows the hood, sides and a little bit of the rear. The exterior is finished in speckled golden. The SUV is equipped with six-spoke wheels that have a chunky design, and a black finish.
Ford Pride chair Bill Peters and Ford integration product leader, stated that the new Bronco was bold, proud, tough and built for everyone in its announcement of the SUV. “Memphis is the ideal place to showcase this Bronco, with BlueOval City only an hour away. It also shows Tennesseeans that Ford is an inclusive company who strives to make everyone feel welcome.”
The Pride-themed Bronco is very similar to the rainbow-colored Ford Ranger Raptor that was made by the German division of Ford for the Christopher Street Day celebrations in Cologne. This truck was created in response to a negative comment on social media calling the Raptor’s Performance Blue color “very homosexual.” The Blue Oval dubbed this truck the Very Gay Raptor Raptor.
Ford of Germany built a customized Ka pickup for Christopher Street Day 1998. It featured a rainbow body wrap. The automaker displayed the pint-sized truck together with the matching Ranger Raptor.
For the model year 2022, there are major changes to the Bronco range. The most prominent addition is the Bronco Raptor. The engine is a twin turbocharged EcoBoost 3.0-liter, making 418 horsepower (311 Kilowatts) as well as 440 pound-feet (596 Newton meters) of torque. It is powered by a 10-speed auto transmission. According to the EPA, fuel economy is 15 mpg city, 17 mpg highway and 15 mpg combined.
The Everglades trim level can also withstand 36.4 inches of water, thanks to a snorkel. It is fitted with 17-inch wheels in Carbonized Grey and 35-inch Goodyear tires. The front bumper is equipped with a winch. The EcoBoost engine’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost produces 300 horsepower (223 kW) as well as 325 lb/ft (440 Nm) of power.
The 2022 Bronco Wildtrak gets an optional HOSS3.0 suspension package with Fox 2.5 inch internal bypass dampers and revised spring rates. A front skid plate is also available.
