Ford introduces Google Maps’ ‘Send To SYNC’ feature to its Google Maps service

Ford has revealed a new feature in the Send to SyNC infotainment program.

The feature is designed to make it easy for people to send directions via Google Maps to their SYNC-equipped car using their smartphone or laptop. Users visit Google Maps to find the desired destination. After selecting an address, users click on it and click More. Finally, they select Send. They then select car, click Ford, enter their SYNC TDI account number (Traffic, Directions & Information), and finally, click on send. After completing the process, the user can enter their vehicle and use the Services command to confirm the request for the Google Maps destination. For easy navigation, this information is converted into audible turn by turn directions.

Doug VanDagens is the director of Ford Connected Services Solutions Organization. “Printing directions on paper from a website is an outdated practice in today’s digital age.” You can send to SYNC to map your destination from anywhere you have internet access. When you arrive at your car, it will already know where you are going. It’s easy to use and eliminates distractions from paper maps. This helps drivers stay focused on the road and conserves resources.

Also, the MapQuest service joins Send to SYNC that supports Google Maps compatibility. This was also announced earlier in the year. The ‘Send To SYNC’ feature is expected to launch later in the month.
