F-Series’ first-generation was available in the F-1 through F-8 models. The increasing numbers indicate a high Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. There was a range of sizes, from half-ton pickups for light work to heavier-duty versions that can be used for commercial customers. Some even functioned as buses.
After a debut in the 2021 model year, the F-150 now has its 14th generation. The most significant change is the introduction the PowerBoost hybrid model that features an electricly assisted twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 430 horsepower and 570 poundfeet of torque. This version also includes a 7.2-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard Generator that has four 120-volt outlets and one 240volt outlet.
With the launch of Lightning , the F-Series will get its first fully-electric version. Its dual-motor motor powertrain produces either 426 horsepower or 563 horsepower depending on which trim level you choose. There is 775 pound-feet torque. Standard-range batteries have a range of 230 miles, while extended-range packs can go 300 miles.
Ford also promotes the Lightning’s ability provide nine hours of electricity to a house if the power goes off. To make this work, however, the house will need an AC-DC inverter as well as the optional Charge Station Pro charging station.
