Ford will prioritise fulfilling orders and manufacturing its EcoBoost engine.
The 2022 Ford Maverick won’t arrive at dealers until the fall. It is possible that specific configurations may be difficult to find. The Granger Ford account has posted a new Maverick truck club post that reveals the truck’s production plans. It allegedly shows that Ford will limit the production of the hybrid model in the first few months, before increasing it slightly.
The post states that the hybrid model will only account for 35 percent of Maverick production in August, September and October. Ford intends to increase the percentage to 40 percent by the end of 2022, though it is not known when. However, the hybrid model could still prove to be difficult to find. Ford currently has two months worth of retail orders and 100 percent of hybrid model production ready to go.
Maverick’s inventory situation is further complicated by dealer allocations. Confirmed orders will be prioritized over showroom stock, 60 to 40% respectively. This will continue until Ford fulfills its retail orders. Ford has so far collected about 80,000 Maverick preorders, but it’s not clear how many will be turned into actual sales.
The Maverick is a popular choice because it will be one of Ford’s most affordable models and a hybrid. The Maverick’s starting price is below $20,000. This includes the destination charge and an estimated 40 mpg city rating. Ford offers the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost as an option for those who want a more powerful truck. Although we don’t know the exact breakdown of preorders between the powertrains, it appears that more people are choosing the premium engine over a standard hybrid. We will have to wait and see if this trend continues.
