This grille is also different.
A new batch of spy photos has been released just days after Ford Maverick was tested. It reveals some interesting facts about the truck. To give a comparison of the two models, an F-150 is shown behind the pickup in some photos.
The front end is what makes this Maverick different from the one shown in the previous picture. This mesh has tiny rectangles and vertical uprights. The other one was larger and had more distinct edges.
Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t show the Maverick alongside the F-150. The proportions show that the unibody truck weighs in at a lot less than its body-on frame sibling. The Maverick seems to be sat lower than its body-on-frame sibling.
Because of the independent rear suspension, our spies believe this is an all-wheel drive version of the Maverick. They think the front-drive version would use a simpler, twist-beam system.
According to current information, the Escape and Maverick could share powertrains. They are also on the same platform. The entry-level engine would be a turbocharged 1.5 liter three-cylinder with 180 horsepower (134 kilowatts), and 177 pound feet (240 Newton-meters), of torque. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder would produce 250 horsepower (186 kW) with 275 lbft (373 Nm). A hybrid might also be available.
Ford’s Maverick is the first unibody pickup to go on sale in the United States for decades. It will be below the F150 and Superduty. The Maverick will be built in Mexico in the same facility as the Bronco Sports, which will also use the same platform. It will be available for purchase in the latter part of 2021, as a model year 2022 vehicle.
