Standard is a rev-matching technology.
Although the Ford Mustang has lost its sales crown last year in the United States, it is still in high demand in Europe. The automaker is adding another pony car to its lineup on the Old continent to maintain momentum. The California Special joins the Mustang GT on the European market, and the Mustang Mach 1 on Europe.
After reviving the California Special in the United States, Ford took the Bullitt name and created a special edition. The convertible version of the California Special is finally available in Europe. It comes with a soft-top and lower side stripes. The sports car is identified by special CS/GT badges around the vehicle.
The Mustang California Special for Europe is available in nine exterior colors and rides on 19-inch wheels in gray. Standard equipment includes heated and cooled front seats, aluminum trim around the dashboard, an eight-inch touchscreen with SYNC3 infotainment, adaptive cruise control, precollision assistance, and other features.
The 5.0-liter naturally aspirated engine under the hood is the same unit used in Mustang GT and Mustang Bullitt. The European specification of California Special has 450 horsepower (331 Kilowatts) as well as 390 pound-feet (529 Nm) in comparison to the US model. This is compared to the US model’s 460 hp (338kW) and 420lb-ft (651 Nm).
There are two options for gearboxes: a standard 6-speed manual with rev matching technology or a 10-speed auto. The Mustang California Special can travel between 0 and 62 miles per an hour (0-100 km/h) depending on which transmission it uses. It takes 4.8 seconds to do this, and 4.5 seconds for the other.
The Mustang Bullitt’s special edition open-top is equipped with a limited-slip differential. MagneRide suspension, which automatically adapts to driving conditions, is also available.
