Ford Mustang Mach 1 gets tweaked badges and stripes ahead of launch

It pays great attention to details.

According to the Blue Oval, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mak 1 will be a little different from the debut in May 2020. After the unveiling, the development team made little adjustments to ensure everything was just right.

In Ford’s announcement, Anthony Colard, senior advanced design, stated that perfection is a goal for any program. However, when you’re bringing back Mach 1, it’s imperative. “This team kept pushing for perfection.”

The Mach 1’s style is subtly altered by all of these changes. The model’s black badge now has a silver outline, which makes it stand out on dark vehicles. The lower fascia grille now features a subtle color gradient, from Magnetic Gray to low-gloss black. Colard claims that this revision makes Mustang’s face look “even more intimidating.” Ford reports that the front edge of the fender stripes has a different shape to improve quality and production processes.

These are not the kind of modifications that will make someone buy a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 and turn away a customer. Ford’s development team had some time between the debut of the muscle car and its finalization for production. They used this time to focus on the details.

The 2021 Mach 1 has a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 480 horsepower (358kilowatts), and either a 10-speed auto or a six-speed manual. Some parts of the Shelby models are used in the machine, including heat exchangers and rear axle coolers.

The Mach 1 costs $52,915 after the destination fee. A 10-speed automatic costs $1,595, while a handling package for $3,500 adds 19 inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire, adjustable strut top mountings, a different front splitter and a Gurney flap to the rear spoiler. The $1,000 Appearance package includes body stripes and hood, as well as the option to add Mach-1’s exclusive Fighter Jet Gray exterior color.
