The Ford Mustang Mach–E could be the brand name for the Blue Oval’s new hybrid powertrain. This information comes from recent trademark applications filed by the automaker in the United States as well as Europe.
Ford applied for the rights to “Mustang Mach-E”, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office March 29, 2019, and at the European Union Intellectual Property Office April 1, 2019. They both protect the name “motor vehicles”, which includes electric vehicles, passenger cars, trucks, sport-utility vehicles, offroad vehicles, and their structural parts, fittings and badges.
Ford also filed for a trademark in Europe on a stylized Mustang logo (above). The design takes the classic look and adds lines to the horse’s body. It seems like the logo and Mustang Mach-E might be related by the simultaneous filing of two trademarks that are Mustang-related.
