Ford Mustang Mach-E uses fake Sci-Fi “Engine” noise when it accelerates

The Mustang experience is all about sound, even if it doesn’t make any sound.

It’s the first all-electric Ford Mustang, and it’s quite controversial. It is the crossover five-door body that seems to be the source of much of the controversy, not the electric powertrain. Ford refers to this as a Mustang, regardless of public opinion. We will give credit to the automaker for trying to make it interesting. It also includes putting fake engine sounds through the speakers. But it’s not as easy as it seems sounds.

The faux noise was heard during the mach-E presentation. We also had the opportunity to ride along with the crossover before its official debut. Mustang fans love the aural experience. With electric power being so quiet, Ford decided to give the V8 some personality. Depending on which drive mode you’re in, pressing the throttle delivers a subtle-yet-noticeable growl both inside and outside the car. It is loudest in Unbridled mode, which is the most lively drive setting for Mach-E. Whisper mode produces a quieter growl than one would expect.

The sound isn’t just straight V8. What’s more, it’s not only a V8 tone. At the media preview, Ford’s Dave Pericak explained that there is a sci-fi component that draws inspiration from films like Blade Runner or Batman. After all, who wouldn’t love a car that sounds just like the Batmobile. Ford spent a lot of time researching to find the perfect “Mustang” sound for Mach-E. It wasn’t just a V8 roar. You know that this would be just plain tacky.

The Ford B-roll video embedded below shows you a sample sound under acceleration. It is audible and has a distinct V8 flavor. It is up to the buyers whether they find the noise entertaining or completely pointless. How do you feel about this effort to make the Mach-E audible? Comment below.
