Ford Mustang Mach E Will Only Be Sold in China With The GT Trim Face

Customers prefer the GT’s look to the other.

China has its own peculiarities, such as its preference for long-wheelbase models. Ford is no exception. Automakers make adjustments to their vehicles in the hope of giving them the best chance of success. The Mustang MachE will be going global with its four-door, electrified crossover body. The Mach-Es sold in China will have a single face, and not the Mach-Es available elsewhere. This is the Mach-E GT trim.

Motor Trend was told by a Ford source that the Chinese-market Mustang Mach-E would not have different front fascias than its European or North American counterparts. Every Mach-E will get the GT face, even though it doesn’t have the GT setup. This looks more like a Mustang face than Ford’s futuristic take, which attempts to imitate Tesla’s unusual look. FoMoCo will offer Mach-Es with the same powertrain options, but they’ll look slightly different.

The GT Performance Edition will be the top-tier offering. This version sacrifices power for range. It produces 480 horsepower (358 Kilowatts) as well as 634 pound-feet (860 Newton meters) of torque. Although the horsepower is identical to the GT, the torque has an increase of 34 lb.ft. The crossover is capable of reaching 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds faster than the GT. The range of the car drops from 250 miles (378km) and 235 (378km) respectively, which is what the GT-specific 250 mile (378km) provides, to 235 (378km). Ford will offer lower-powered versions with more range up to 300 miles (483km).

Although deliveries won’t start until the end of next summer, the car continues to be a big hit. The North American Car and Truck of the Year Jury selected the mach-E to be a finalist for the Utility Vehicle category. It will compete against two luxury competitors, the Land Rover Defender and the Genesis GV80. None of them are electric vehicles.
