Euro-spec Fiesta ST with dual clutch auto is also planned.
The days of the U.S.-spec Ford Fiesta can be counted. However, the Blue oval has an all new Fiesta for sale in Europe. The car is a charming little car, with an ST version that’s currently being introduced to potential customers and media.
Leo Roeks, Ford Performance Europe boss, hinted that a sportier version of the Fiesta ST was in development, while a dual-clutch auto version of the ST was also being developed. According to Australian publications, the Fiesta RS will be launched by the end the decade. Most likely, it will launch in mid-2019.
We don’t know much about the car, but we anticipate a bigger engine underneath. The ST’s turbo engine is a 1.5-liter three cylinder turbo unit that produces 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts), which is the same output as the Fiesta ST. At least for now, the motor is only mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Ford could place a larger 2.0-liter unit but we will need to wait to see more details.
Motoring has a report on the Fiesta ST’s transmission. It reports that a dual-clutch auto was actually very close to being introduced, but is currently being delayed due to the poor reputation of Ford’s Powershift “box.”
Fiesta ST is the most powerful Euro-spec Fiesta. It’s a -equipped hot hatch. This model features an optional Quaife manual limited-slip differential and the first-ever patented force vectoring springs. Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment and audio system, as well as an optional Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, traffic sign recognition, and lane keep assist are all included.
It’s an affordable hot hatch that you need to buy, as we found out during our test driving the Fiesta ST. Problem? It’s not possible to have it in the United States.
