Horsepower is the standard used to measure cars. Weight is considered a sinful handicap. The vehicular tug-of-war is an example of where weight can be helpful. The heaviest vehicle is the one that wins these competitions. However, there are exceptions.

This video features a pair European commercial vehicles versus one another, and an American foe – The F-150 Raptor . Ford offers both. Although the Transit is heavier than Ranger, it should have had an advantage against pickups. However, the Transit’s four-wheel drive and more grippier tires allowed it to demolish van. MS-RT tuned the front-wheel-drive van with low-profile tires. The Ranger hooked up with the Raptor, and lost in a single tug-of-war against the F-150 off-road. It wasn’t a crushing defeat for the larger truck. The Ranger was able to hold its own.

The Raptor was unable to win the final tug-of-wear, as both the Transit Custom and Ranger were tied to the F-150. Although it wasn’t a huge victory for the Ford smaller models, the two easily defeated the F-150 after the Ranger had found its feet – stability control. These gifts are often heavy on weight, but tires and all wheel drive can help. The video showed the ground looking very wet, muddy and slippery, which was certainly not helpful to any of the competitors.
