At least for now, the electric F-150 is enough.
This segment will see a lot of electric pickups from Ford, GMC and Lordstown, Rivian and probably even more. However, don’t expect the Blue Oval not to quickly follow its F-150 EV with an identical version of the Super Duty.
According to Kumar Galhotra (president of Ford’s Americas & International Markets Group), “At this moment, we don’t have any plans to enter heavy-duty with electric vehicles.”
Detroit Free Press It makes sense that the company has a clear thought process. Ford’s electric F-150 allows them to test the market for EV pickups. It is better to invest all its capital in one vehicle that excels in a new market segment than split the capital among two.
The F-150 EV will use a 2-motor powertrain greater than 450 horsepower (336kilowatts), and batteries that provide at least 300 miles of range. This teaser suggests it’s not just the pickup that doesn’t have a combustion engine. The nose appears to have a different shape with a narrow bar that runs the length of the upper section. There is a lot of storage under the hood. For the 2023 model year, the truck will be available for sale in mid-2022.

Ford is working on at least two additional electric vehicles in addition to the F-150 E-V. The Mach-E will be a performance-oriented crossover. The Transit EV will debut later in November, a van that focuses on commercial clients.
