Ford Stuffed A Focus RS Engine Into A Transit Connect Van

Although the automaker made a unique Transit with Focus ST running gear, you cannot buy either.

Sleeper lovers rejoice. An automaker might build a car with simple styling every now and again and put it into production. We are aware that there are many crazy people who pack powerful engines into simple-wrapper cars every day. Sometimes, however, engineers at car companies are slapped with a little bit of this madness. This is why the two Ford Transit Connect vans you see here are courtesy of Carfection.

In such a case, Insanity This might be an exaggeration. Yes, Ford’s Euro division bolted the powertrain to the vehicle from a Focus RS It’s possible to fit it into an older Transit Connect van but it’s not the same as the modern mental hot hatch. The first-generation RS’s running gear features a 212-horsepower (158 kilowatts) turbocharged four pot turning the front wheels. The RS gearbox, front suspension and brakes are all included. Additionally, the interior features Recaros and some questionable felt materials.

This is the second Transit that Ford engineers have infused with Focus bits. It doesn’t get all-wheel drive from the current RS. Instead, it gets the boosted four-cylinder from a Focus ST. This is a powerful engine with 252 hp (188 kW). The Transit “ST” gets suspension, brakes and interior upgrades, just like the previous swap.

What is their driving style? The video shows that the vans have very similar characteristics to the donor cars they are derived from. The earlier-generation white Transit is known for its ability to torque steer, while whereas the blue bomber has more refinement and thrust, it can be seen that the blue bomber is much more refined. Both are a joy to drive, however.

Ford does not plan to make such creations available to the public. We’ll have to make one ourselves, guess what?
