The F-150 will be giving a similar makeover to the blue oval pickups.
Ford has not yet provided any information regarding the next Super Duty pickup truck. You can rest assured that an updated model will be coming with significant improvements inside and outside. We are grateful to TFLNow for providing us with a glimpse of what is underneath the camouflage.
One reader took photos and video of the Super Dutyprototype, which was likely going through hot-weather testing in Kingman, Arizona. This could explain why the grille is lacking heavy camouflage, which could be because the deserts of western Arizona are hotter than usual at this time of the year. Although we don’t see much, it is clear that Super Duty’s designers have taken a more squared-off approach. This model is likely to have a higher trim level because the rectangular grille looks similar to the one on F-150 Platinum. Further support for this theory is the presence of driving lamps in the lower bumper.
It is unclear whether the S-shaped trim surrounding the headlights is an intentional production feature or if it is just camouflage. Although spy photos have shown the lenses covered, it is not clear if there are any S-shaped shapes underneath the covers. It’s easy to see that the overall shape of the lights is squarish, which mirrors what we see on our F-150. The front of the truck has a black steel wheel that is barely visible. This suggests that the truck’s mission is heavy-duty road testing.
We don’t anticipate the next Super Duty will be an entirely new model. It should have the same bones as the current model. There are also familiar engine options that could be combined with a new hybrid configuration. The current trucks come in a variety of gasoline-burning V8 engines (either 6.2-liter or 7.3-liter), or the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel that produces 475 horsepower (354 Kilowatts) or 1,050 pound feet (1,424 Newton meters) of torque.
Camouflaged Super Duty prototypes are still around since the past year. We believe Ford is going to debut the refreshed model in late 2018 or early next year, either as a 2023 model or 2024 model.
