It could be affected by Equator Sport for China and Equator Sport For China.
We think Ford is very unstructured in its current global sedan portfolio. The traditional three-box body style was eliminated by Ford in the United States. It is expected to retire Mondeo in Europe this month. A new generation Mondeo is available in China. It also offers a liftback version. Ford seems to be working on a successor for Fusion and Mondeo. However, it will not have a sedan-like shape. Not at all.
These spy photos show that the automaker is actually working on a new SUV, which will likely replace the Fusion or Mondeo in the hierarchy. This isn’t a sedan, but a large utility vehicle with an edgy design. However, it is still in its early stages of development so we don’t know much about the design. Even with all the camouflage there are enough clues to the overall design language.
Ford may use a different design language for China, if we’re not mistaken. The Equator and Equator Sports ( see related links below) may be an indication of the design language this new SUV might use. These spy photos were taken in Northern Europe. This suggests that we are likely dealing with a global Ford product.
There is not much more to say except that the prototype has an exhaust tube. It is confirmed that it has a combustion engine underneath the hood. However, it is not clear if it is driving the wheels directly or in combination with some kind of hybrid system. The large Michelin winter tires provide traction for this SUV.
Some reports suggest that this vehicle could be the all-new Fusion Active. Although it’s not confirmed at this time, there have been many reports that Ford could resurrect the Ford Fusion Active moniker as a high-riding machine. We’re eager to find out more, and will share all information with you.
