Ford Tourneo Connect: Ford Tourneo Connect Spy Pics Reveal Van Will Get Plug In Hybrid Variant

It has a Ford at the front and a VW at the back.

It has been almost two years since Ford & VW agreed to jointly develop vehicles. Already, the first fruits of this partnership are growing. The 202 Tourneo Connect was introduced by Ford in October. It is a redesign of the Volkswagen Caddy. The company did not reveal the complete model lineup, but new spy photos show Ford plans to launch a plug in hybrid variant.

Even though the spy photos show the van without camouflage, they don’t show it with any. Although the 2022 Tourneo Connect’s visage is obvious, eagle-eye viewers will be able to see that its rear end looks strange. It still has the VW Logo and the Caddy badging. Whoops. The Tourneo’s massive charge port on its front fender will make it stand out from the rest of our lineup. This is where VW usually locates the opening.

It will likely use the VW Golf’s hybrid powertrain. It will likely use the VW Golf’s hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 1.4-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor. The Golf Hybrid has 204 horsepower (152kilowatts) and 64 km (40 miles) of fully-electric range. Although it is uncertain if Ford will use the same powertrain as the Blue Oval or get something new, it is possible. The new powertrain for the van will be an excellent addition to the gasoline- and diesel versions.

The eHybrid powertrain will remain unchanged if it is retained. It will be the most powerful variant of the model. The EcoBoost 1.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost produces 115 horsepower (85kilowatts), and the EcoBlue diesel 2.0-liter pumps out either 112 hp (90%), or 102hp (75% kW), depending on the tune. The manual gearboxes are standard on both models. A seven-speed dual clutch automatic is optional. Ford offers the all-wheel drive diesel engine with more power when it comes with a manual transmission.

Both the diesel and gas versions will go on sale in spring. However, those who want something more efficient for their fuel consumption will have to wait. As a 2023 model, the hybrid Ford van will be available before the year ends.
