These vehicles are tough looking and available in Europe.

Ford created an Active version of its Tourneo Connect MPV, and the Transit Connect van. The new models follow the new Transit Custom Active which was announced a few weeks back. They feature tough-looking body cladding for the European market.

The new Active models are just like all other Ford models. They’re based on standard vehicles so, despite their “SUV-inspired”, styling, four-wheel drive is not an option. Ford offers an optional limited slip differential that will increase traction from the wheels that transmit power to the road.

This system is accompanied by a new traction control setup, which maximizes the differential’s capabilities. Ford claims that the system, which includes a raised ride height and increased ground clearance, allows drivers to “more comfortably handle wet, slippery, and challenging surfaces”.

The majority of the changes are only superficial. The Active models also get thicker bumpers and standard roof rails and skid plates at the front and rear. The mesh grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and extra cladding around the wheel arches and side sills will be noticed by keen-eyed readers.Customers will also receive an “Active badge” and a decal on the front wings as well as two new colors. To complement the Active accessories, Sedona Orange or Solar Silver will be available.

Inside, you’ll find exclusive seat trim patterns, stitching, and blue contrast detailing. For added emphasis, the Active logo is embossed on the front door sills’ metallic scuff plates. The Transit and Tourneo Connect Active models look almost identical to their traditional stablemates, with a few visual tweaks.

The Tourneo Connect Active has the same layout as the standard five-seat Tourneo Connect Active, but customers can upgrade to Grand Tourneo Connect Active for two more seats in the second row.No matter which version you choose, your vehicle will be equipped with a 1.5-liter EcoBlue Diesel engine. The engines are available in either 100 hp or 120 hp versions and can be fitted with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic. The more powerful engine will have the limited-slip differential.
